Nirmala Sitharaman IMF-World Bank Spring Meetings participation is set to be a key highlight of her upcoming 11-day tour to the US and Peru. India’s Finance Minister will engage in crucial discussions on global economic trends, development policies, and multilateral cooperation at the IMF-World Bank Spring Meetings 2025.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated on Saturday that she will participate in G20 meetings and attend the IMF-World Bank Spring Meetings as part of an 11-day official travel to the United States and Peru.
Additionally, the finance minister will hold bilateral discussions with CEOs of important information technology (IT) companies in San Francisco and participate in a Roundtable meeting with investors, where he will meet with top executives from well-known fund management firms.
As part of her visit for the Nirmala Sitharaman IMF-World Bank Spring Meetings, the Finance Minister will travel to San Francisco, where she is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution on April 20. Sitharaman will also take part in an event featuring the Indian diaspora in San Francisco and interact with members of the Indian community living there, the finance ministry said in a statement.

In addition to meeting with the EU Commissioner for Financial Services, the President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), and the First Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), she will also have bilateral meetings with her counterparts from a number of other nations, including Argentina, Bahrain, Germany, France, Luxembourg, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
During her maiden visit to Peru from April 26 to 30, as part of the Nirmala Sitharaman IMF-World Bank Spring Meetings tour, the Finance Minister will lead an Indian delegation comprising officials from the Ministry of Finance and business leaders, underscoring the strengthening bilateral economic and trade relations between the two nations.
According to the statement, Sitharaman will start her trip in Lima by meeting with Peruvian President Dina Boluarte and Prime Minister Gustavo Adrianzén. She will also have bilateral meetings with Peruvian Ministers of Finance and Economy, Defense, Energy, and Mines, as well as engage with local public officials.
As part of the Nirmala Sitharaman IMF-World Bank Spring Meetings itinerary, the Finance Minister will also chair the India-Peru Business Forum during her visit to Peru, with prominent business representatives from both India and the Latin American nation in attendance.
Discussions during these engagements are also anticipated to explore opportunities for increased cooperation in the mining sector, specifically to strengthen India’s resource security and facilitate value-chain linkages between the two economies, given Peru’s significance in the global supply chain of critical minerals and precious metals, the statement said.
As part of the Nirmala Sitharaman IMF-World Bank Spring Meetings tour, the Finance Minister will also participate in a community event in Lima, where she will interact with the Indian diaspora living in Peru, the statement added.
