- The Delhi Police PUBG drug bust has exposed a startling new method of drug trafficking, where dealers used the online game PUBG to connect with heroin suppliers. This major operation led to arrests and seizure of narcotics, highlighting the evolving tactics of drug networks.
As part of “Operation Clean Sweep,” Delhi Police have dismantled a significant drug trafficking organization that operated throughout South Asian countries. The cartel was active throughout Afghanistan, Pakistan, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, and portions of the Delhi-National Capital Region, the officials said.
According to the police, one of the defendants really connected with a heroin supplier via the online game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.
The Delhi Police PUBG drug bust also led to the seizure of 1,667 grammes of superfine-quality Afghan-origin heroin and 130 grammes of a suspected chemical substance.
Delhi Police PUBG Drug Bust: How the Operation Began
When authorities apprehended Faheem Farooq, a 37-year-old Jammu-Kashmir native, the cartel was exposed. A crucial figure in the network, Shazia Peer, was arrested as a result of additional inquiry. Peer went on to disclose that she had contacts in Punjab, the United States, Afghanistan, and the United Kingdom, including those going by the names Sohrab, Hafiz, and Harry.
In the Delhi Police PUBG drug bust, the woman revealed that the illegal drugs came from Afghanistan, passed through Pakistan and Jammu & Kashmir, and were transported to Delhi. Her associate, Javed, helped distribute the drugs in the city and was later arrested during a police raid.
When authorities detained Parminder Singh Deol, popularly known as Harry, they discovered the drug group’s connection to Punjab. He resides in Ludhiana’s Prakash Nagar. He was seen supplying heroin to a man named Faheem in CCTV footage taken from a Murthal restaurant.
PUBG used by accused
As part of the Delhi Police PUBG drug bust, subsequent raids and investigation led to the arrest of Jashanpreet Singh, who was traced to Narli village while hiding at a relative’s residence. Authorities seized 372 grammes of heroin from his home.
He shockingly told authorities how he connected to a heroin source using the PUBG gaming app. He avoided police tracking and surveillance by using the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds technique.
During the Delhi Police PUBG drug bust, police recovered 15 mobile phones containing chats, videos, and contact lists, revealing that the gang was part of a well-organised international drug network.
Two motorcycles that were utilized to transport the drugs were also seized.
The organization is suspected of assisting in the movement of explosives and firearms in addition to smuggling heroin.
