In accordance with a Supreme Court decision, Madhya Pradesh Police formed a three-member SIT late Monday night to look into state minister Vijay Shah’s comments against Col. Sofiya Qureshi, according to an official.
Inspector General of Police Pramod Verma, Deputy Inspector General Kalyan Chakravarty, and Superintendent of Police Vahini Singh make up the Special Investigation Team.
Shah was reprimanded by the Supreme Court on Monday for his “crass” comments against Col. Qureshi, and a three-person special inquiry team was established to look into the FIR that was filed against him.

In order to investigate the FIR filed in response to a Madhya Pradesh High Court ruling, the top court requested that the Madhya Pradesh director general of police form a three-member SIT by Tuesday at 10 a.m., led by an IG-rank officer and include a female officer.
The Madhya Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP), Kailash Makwana, issued the order to form the SIT and instructed that the highest court’s ruling be followed.
According to the source, Vahini Singh is now SP Dindori, Kalyan Chakravarty is Deputy Inspector General (DIG) SAF, Bhopal, and senior IPS officer Pramod Verma is currently Inspector General (IG) Sagar range.

Shah faced criticism after a widely circulated video purportedly captured him making offensive comments against Col. Qureshi, who rose to national fame with Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, another female commander, during media briefings on Operation Sindoor.
