India US mediation denial was strongly asserted in a lengthy meeting with a parliamentary committee, where India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri denied that the United States was involved in the ceasefire deal with Pakistan, refuting allegations that the United States mediated the issue in response to questions from some opposition members about US President Donald Trump’s repeated assertions that he was instrumental in bringing an end to India-Pakistan hostilities. Misri stressed that the ceasefire was the product of direct talks between the two nations, without any outside intervention.
In response to criticism of President Trump’s public remarks at the meeting, Misri implied that Trump had not obtained India’s approval before claiming a key role in the ceasefire talks. “Donald Trump entered the spotlight without our consent. “He came because he wanted to be the center of attention,” Misri said, categorically rejecting any idea of US participation in the peace process.
Resolving Military Engagements and Nuclear Issues
In response to questions on the nature of the fight, the Foreign Secretary reiterated that there were no signs of Pakistan threatening to use nuclear weapons and that the skirmish was still within the parameters of conventional combat. This declaration, which emphasized that both countries exercised prudence in their military interactions, was made to calm concerns of a nuclear conflict escalation.
Misri also discussed the military realities of the conflict, namely Pakistan’s deployment of military equipment of Chinese provenance. He emphasized the success of India’s retaliatory attacks on Pakistani airbases while downplaying the importance of the equipment’s place of origin. However, Misri declined to provide information when asked about the losses of Indian aircraft, citing national security concerns.

The Foreign Secretary also attempted to dispel misunderstandings over a comment made by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Operation Sindoor. According to Misri, Jaishankar’s remarks were intended to convey that India had solely struck terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, in keeping with India’s anti-terrorism posture.
