Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan in the wake of a fatal terrorist assault in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened with Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh on Monday. Within a mere two days, this meeting represents the third instance of high-level interaction between the Prime Minister and senior defence officials.

Less than 24 hours before the Air Chief’s meeting, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi had briefed the Prime Minister on maritime security, especially regarding the condition of sea lanes in the Arabian Sea.
