Heatwave Warning April 2025 has been issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), with orange and yellow alerts in effect across several states until April 30. As temperatures continue to surge, the IMD urges residents in affected regions to take necessary precautions.

Madhya Pradesh: There is a high probability of isolated heatwave conditions in West Madhya Pradesh from April 24 to April 30 and in East Madhya Pradesh from April 24 to April 27.

Heatwave predicted for April 24–26 in Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, and West Bengal
Punjab, Haryana: Heatwave expected during April 25-29
A heatwave is predicted for April 24 and 25 in Telangana, Madhya Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and Marathawada.
Additionally, on April 24 and 25, there is a high probability of warm nighttime temperatures in isolated areas over Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, and Bihar and Telangana.
Heatwave Warning April 2025: Hot and humid conditions are expected to prevail over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, and Rayalaseema during April 24th-26th; Gujarat is forecasted to experience these conditions on April 24th and again from April 27th-30th.

A heatwave is expected to hit Delhi on April 24, 25, 26, and 27. On Thursday, April 24, the highest temperature over Delhi is predicted to be between 40 and 42°C.
Heatwave Warning April 2025: On April 25, the maximum and minimum temperatures over Delhi are likely to be in the range of 41 to 43°C and 22 to 24°C, respectively, the IMD said.
On Thursday, April 24, the IMD issued an orange signal, indicating a heatwave, for portions of West Bengal, Odisha, Maharashtra, and Jharkhand.
An official informed news agency PTI on Thursday that Daltonganj was scorching at 43 degrees Celsius as a heatwave swept through Jharkhand. “A ‘yellow’ alert of heatwave was issued for Simdega, Saraikela-Kharswan, East and West Singhbhum districts till April 26,” added the official.
No significant change in the maximum temperature is anticipated for at least three days, according to Deputy Director Abhishek Anand of the Ranchi Meteorological Center. After that, it might drop by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius, and starting on April 27, there’s a chance of rain and hail, he warned.
As part of the Heatwave Warning April 2025, an ‘Orange’ alert was issued for Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir, and Bargarh districts in Odisha, urging residents to take necessary action. Meanwhile, a ‘Yellow’ alert for awareness was issued for Kalahandi, Nupada, Deogarh, and Angul districts.
Under the Heatwave Warning April 2025, hot and humid weather conditions are expected to prevail over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhargarh, and Dhenkanal, as per the IMD’s forecast.
It further stated that Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Bolangir, and Mayurbhanj would have mild nights.
According to the IMD, Jharsuguda, an industrial town in Odisha, was the third-hottest place in the nation, behind Brahmapuri (45.6) and Chandrapur (45.5) in Maharashtra.
As part of the Heatwave Warning April 2025, the IMD advised people to avoid prolonged heat exposure and to cover their heads with a wet cloth, hat, or umbrella when going out between 11 am and 3 pm, PTI news reported.
