Fake birth certificates: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is taking strict action against Metro Hospital in Tolichowki after uncovering a major scam. It turns out the hospital issued 65 fake birth certificates and eight death certificates, prompting the GHMC to step in with legal measures.
After getting tipped off about the fraud, the GHMC teamed up with local police to dig into the hospital’s records. What they found was alarming—the certificates were handed out without any proper checks. The GHMC quickly canceled all 73 of these fake documents and is now pushing to revoke the hospital’s registration. The doctor involved in this mess might also lose their medical license.
“We’re not letting this slide,” a GHMC official told us. “We’re putting tougher rules in place to make sure this kind of thing doesn’t happen again.”

That’s not all—while looking into some reported home births, the GHMC found more issues. Four of these births, three in Falaknuma and one in Malakpet, were completely made up. The health assistant tied to these cases has been fired, and the GHMC has told circle registrars to file cases against the parents, neighbors, and advocates who backed these false claims.
On top of that, the GHMC looked into 74 home births reported in the city. Out of those, 38 were registered at Shishu Vihar, a home for orphaned kids. After a closer look, four of those registrations didn’t hold up, and the birth certificates tied to them have been scrapped.
The GHMC is now doubling down on cleaning up its processes. They’re determined to stop these fraudulent activities and ensure every birth and death in Hyderabad is properly documented from now on.
