Akashvani Hyderabad Kendra Diamond Jubilee is being celebrated with pride and grandeur, marking 60 years of exceptional service in broadcasting, public engagement, and cultural heritage.

Today is the diamond jubilee celebration for Akashvani Hyderabad Kendra. On the same day in 1950, the Indian Government acquired the Deccan Radio of the Nizam in the former state of Hyderabad, which eventually became part of Akashvani. On the grounds of Akashvani Hyderabad, Dr. Pragya Paliwal Gaur, Director General of Akashvani and the News Services Division, will digitally unveil the Diamond Jubilee pylon.
As part of the Akashvani Hyderabad Kendra Diamond Jubilee celebrations, it’s worth noting that during its seven-and-a-half-decade journey, Akashvani Hyderabad Kendra has become an integral part of the region—covering the present two Telugu states, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, and parts of Maharashtra and Karnataka—through its continuous programming in seven languages for all sections of society.
Since the Kendra has always been there for the people in the area during both happy and sad times, it has become an integral part of their everyday life. Through its unbiased and fair news and opinions, Kendra twice accompanied the people on their agitations for independent statehood and participated in their celebrations when their desire was realized.
As part of the Akashvani Hyderabad Kendra Diamond Jubilee celebrations, it is important to highlight that Akashvani Hyderabad, one of the major Kendras in the country, continues to serve the public in 7 languages, including Telugu, Urdu, Kannada, and Marathi. It operates with the support of four other Local Radio Stations and 10 additional transmitters spread across Telangana. Akashvani Hyderabad’s programs and content are now also widely accessible via mobile apps and social media platforms, expanding its reach in the digital era.
