Operation Sindoor: Following India’s missile attacks in Pakistan and the PoK in retaliation for the fatal Pahalgam terrorist assault, China urged India and Pakistan to maintain caution for regional peace.
In the “larger interest of peace and stability” in the neighborhood after Operation Sindoor on May 7, China’s Foreign Ministry has called on India and Pakistan to exercise “restraint,” according to PTI.
In response to the Pahalgam terror incident, the Indian military launched missile strikes on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) early today.
China’s two neighbors want stability and peace
“The current state of affairs worries us. India and Pakistan have been and will continue to be neighbors. They are also China’s neighbors,” the statement stated, seemingly alluding to the terrorist incident in Pahalgam, adding that “China opposes all types of terrorism.”
“We implore both parties to behave in the greater interest of peace and stability, maintain composure, use prudence, and abstain from acts that may make matters more complicated. The statement further said, “China finds India’s military operation early this morning regrettable.”
China and Pakistan’s diplomatic relations improved
The PTI article also stated that Pakistan’s diplomatic relations with China, its longstanding “iron-clad” ally, had “stepped up” in recent days.
On April 27, Ishaq Dar, the deputy prime minister and foreign minister of Pakistan, briefed Wang Yi, the senior diplomat in China, over the phone. Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong also met with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
In addition to calling for a fair and prompt inquiry, China notably asked for restraint in its condemnation of the Pahalgam terrorist incident.
Operation Sindoor China Calls for Unbiased Probe and Global Unity Against Terrorism
During his discussions with Dar, Wang said China is keeping a close eye on the events. According to him, fighting terrorism is a global duty, and China is in favor of an unbiased inquiry as quickly as possible because the confrontation does not advance regional peace and stability or serve the core interests of either India or Pakistan.

China is an all-weather strategic cooperation partner and an unwavering friend who fully comprehends Pakistan’s justifiable security concerns and helps Pakistan protect its interests in security and sovereignty, Wang added.
China-Russia Discussions Are Coming
