CM Revanth’s Key Directives for Hyderabad Metro Expansion: Future City, Shamirpet, and Medchal Metro Projects
Hyderabad, Telangana: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has issued key directives regarding the expansion of the Hyderabad Metro network. He instructed officials to complete the comprehensive Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for the metro routes connecting Future City, Shamirpet, and Medchal by the end of March. These projects are critical for the city’s growth. The CM emphasized the need for completing the DPRs and obtaining approval from the central government, with tenders to be invited by April.
In a high-level meeting focused on metro expansion, radial road construction, and elevated corridors, CM Revanth discussed critical metro routes including Rajiv Gandhi International Airport to Future City (40 km), JBS to Shamirpet (22 km), and Paradise to Medchal (23 km). The CM instructed officials to complete land acquisition for these routes as quickly as possible to meet project timelines.
During the meeting, the CM highlighted the importance of designing elevated corridors with future needs in mind. He urged that these designs integrate long-term planning and on-site assessments to ensure safety and convenience. In particular, for the Medchal route, he suggested aligning the metro line with the existing three flyovers along the National Highway (NH).
The CM also stressed the urgent need to begin construction of elevated corridors as soon as possible, ensuring the simultaneous launch of the Shamirpet and Medchal metro sections. He recommended establishing state-of-the-art facilities at these junctions, with infrastructure designed to meet future needs. Detailed plans for these junctions are to be prepared accordingly.

Additionally, Revanth Reddy instructed the Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited (HGCL) to take charge of constructing the radial roads, which are crucial for improving connectivity in the expanding city. These radial roads, along with the metro routes and elevated corridors, will play a key role in reducing traffic congestion, improving transportation efficiency, and providing better air quality across Hyderabad.
In this review meeting, Chief Advisor V. Narendra Reddy, senior government officials, and the MD of Hyderabad Metro Rail Corporation participated. These metro expansion projects are expected to significantly improve the city’s transportation system, enhancing metro connectivity and making travel more convenient for the public. The long-term impact will contribute substantially to the overall development of Hyderabad.
